Bio

Janine Ma-Ree is an Australian contemporary artist whose work emerges from over three decades of professional practice in holistic health, embodiment, and facilitating transformational spaces. Through leading retreats, workshops, and immersive experiences in Australia and internationally, she has long explored the threshold where vibration takes form, and the relationship between spirit, matter, and lived experience.

Eleven years ago, she founded Red Earth Temple, a 125-acre sanctuary of wild land that became both teacher and muse, deepening her relationship with landscape, ritual space, and the intelligence of earth.

Her paintings arise from this lived immersion. Working intuitively with colour, texture, and depth, Janine creates works that hold what she describes as “vibrational presence” that feel alive within the spaces they inhabit. Drawing on decades of embodied enquiry, she bridges the seen and the unseen, shaping matter into forms that carry resonance rather than narrative.

Janine's evolving artistic practice has been shaped by both intuitive exploration and dedicated study, deepening her understanding of drawing, composition, colour, and the language of classical and contemporary painting.

Now painting from her studio at Red Earth, surrounded by untamed bushland and canyon landscape, Janine is devoted to building a significant body of work that translates her lifelong exploration of transformation into enduring visual form. The land remains an active influence, informing the depth, tone, and elemental quality of her paintings.

Her focus is on creating works that explore matter, interconnectedness and bring aliveness to contemporary spaces.

Artist Statement

I am drawn to where the mystery meets matter, and beauty becomes a field of aliveness rather than an object. Grounded in embodiment and lived experience, each stroke remains alive to what is emerging, shaping fields of colour and texture into living form.

Imagery arises from lived encounters with land, myth, and experience, opening a space where each person discovers their own resonance and meaning.
