My Story
When I was younger, I didn’t think I was creative.
Something in me knew how to move, imagine and create, yet another part was shaped by societal conditioning, perfectionism and my inner critic.
My creativity reawakened first through dance and embodiment, then through creating and facilitating transformational retreats across Australia and internationally, exploring the feminine mysteries, archetypes and divinity in matter. I was working with form, frequency and lived experience — just not on canvas.
I began exploring abstract art as another way to express creativity, integrate life initiations and paint what was moving through me. For years I loved creating large abstract works filled with expression and movement, until non-objective abstraction began to feel limiting.
I was magnetised to art school. I liken it to going back and learning the scales in music. I immersed myself in drawing, proportion, colour theory, oils, the old masters and mixed media. It felt like a threshold moment. At the same time, I was letting go of much of my previous work in the world and opening into another expression of my life’s work with the mysteries of matter.
I now see this was life leading me beyond what I knew, and revealing the form for my artist to fully emerge. It has been joyful, scary, challenging, fulfilling, vulnerable and filled with beauty.
What I once held through movement and facilitation now moves through paint. The canvas has become a meeting place between the mystery and matter, another way vibration, frequency and the unseen move into form.
